If you have COPD (chronic obstructive pulm onary
disease), which includes chronic bronchitis, emphysema
or both, rescue inhalers alone may not be enough. You
and your doctor could talk about adding once-daily
SPIRIVA, which can help you breathe better.
Ask your doctor about SPIRIVA, because it:
A Is the only once-daily, inhaled maintenance
prescription treatm ent for both forms of COPD
▲ Significantly improves lung function by keeping
airways open
A Helps you breathe better for a full 24 hours
A Is not a steroid
SPIRIVA is not for everyone. SPIRIVA does not replace
fast-acting inhalers for sudden symptoms. Do not swallow
SPIRIVA capsules. Only use SPIRIVA capsules with the
HandiHaler device. Stop taking SPIRIVA and get medical
help right away if your breathing suddenly worsens,
your throat or tongue swells, you get hives, or have vision
changes or eye pain.
Tell your doctor if you have glaucoma, problems passing
urine or an enlarged prostate, as these may worsen with
SPIRIVA. Also discuss with your doctor all the medicines
you take, including eye drops. I he most common side effect
with SPIRIVA is dry mouth. Others include constipation
and trouble passing urine.
You are encouraged to report negative side effects of prescription drugs to the FDA. Visit wm.fda.gov/medwatch or call 1-800-FDA-1088.
THERE MAY BE MORE YOU CAN DO TO HELP MANAGE YOUR COPD.
Talk to your doctor about lifestyle changes and SPIRIVA.
